I’m writing this later than usual, but it has been a DAY today. I slipped and fell on ice, it took me almost four hours to get home, and I have the Sunday scaries on a Monday! It must be January. At least it’s not snowing and icy where I am! It’s been a while since I’ve done a round-up, so let’s go. Scroll to the end for cat photos!
What I’m Reading:
This is a month of rereads! With the third Crescent City book—House of Flame and Shadow—out in a couple of weeks (Jan 30th), I have been in the process of rereading Maas’s ACOTAR series and the first to CC books. ACOTAR is done, and I’ll be starting CC1 this week! I haven’t read the Throne of Glass series, and I would love to get all of those books read before Jan 30th…but I think it’s a long shot at this point.
I’m participating in Read Christie 2024, and the first 3 months of the year are books from the 1920s, with The Mysterious Affair at Styles as the first choice. I’ve always had a soft spot for this novel (Agatha’s first) and I’m excited to reread! Plus, I just bought this gorgeous edition from Harper Muse!
I’m also participating in a year-long Jane Austen read-along! We’ll be reading the books in publishing order, and we are currently through chapter 11 of Sense and Sensibility. I just purchased this annotated edition, and already I have learned a lot of background information and context I didn’t know before! I’m considering ordering the annotated versions for the rest of Austen’s books…even though I own other versions already. The life of a reader!
What I’m Watching:
I’m currently rewatching Doctor Who! I stopped watching a few years ago during the Capaldi reign, but I’m ready to get caught up and get to Ncuti Gatwa’s doctor episodes. I’m in my Tennant/Donna era and loving it.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians!
Okay, I am already obsessed with this adaptation, and I’m so grateful to Disney and Rick Riordan for the work they have put into this show. So far, it is everything I have wanted, and I love having a show to look forward to every week…feels like the good ol’ days! I highly recommend it!

What I’m Listening To:
I made a playlist that is almost exclusively Noah Kahan and Zach Bryan and it’s just the vibe right now. I’ve, of course, also been listening to Taylor and the Morbid podcast.
What I’m Working On:
Oof. I went back to work and a lot of my plans went out the window! I’m still steadily working through my book coaching coursework and I’m gearing up to look for my first practicum client. I’ve also had a lot of ideas surrounding Sarah J Maas’s books…perhaps a book club? A podcast? Trivia? All of the above? I’m still building my ideas.
My own fantasy book is still buzzing around in my head and consuming a lot of my thoughts. I’ve decided to pause writing for a bit and actually apply what I’m learning in my book coaching course to my own writing. I’m excited to get back to it, even if it’s in the planning stage!
As promised, here are the cat pics! Despite receiving many toys for Christmas, Winnie (left) is more enamored of the brown paper that came in the Chewy box. Typical. Simon (right) loves helping with puzzles. They’re gems.
