Today’s Monday Mood post is brought to you by the fact that HOUSE OF FLAME AND SHADOW RELEASES TOMORROW AND I AM NOT OKAY. I know that some people have already received their copies, or have found early copies out in the wild…and waiting is so difficult. I’m unsure of the last time I felt this excited/apprehensive/ready for a new book to come out? I would assume definitely back in my Potter days, and when Bloodmarked, Tracy Deonn’s sequel to Legendborn, came out, I was STOKED. But here we are…me waiting not so patiently, and also feeling very sorry for myself because I’m in a meeting all day tomorrow which will impact my reading time. JOBS UGH.
What I’m Reading:
Sarah J. Maas all day every day. No really. I’ve been gearing up for the release of HoFAS and reread the first two Crescent City books: House of Earth and Blood and House of Sky and Breath. On top of that, I’m trying to get through the Throne of Glass series. I just read Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight. All this to say…I think I’m going to start a very special series curated about SJM books and I already have a lot of plans. Ya’ll already know how great I am at bringing my plans to fruition though…so we’ll all believe it when we see it.
Want to start your journey into the Maasverse? I have an affiliate code for that!

Thanks to NetGalley and Feiwel & Friends for this free digital copy in exchange for an honest review! This book is available now. Along with all of the SJM reads, I also finished this one this past week!
Most Ardently by Gabe Cole Novoa is labeled as a “Pride and Prejudice Remix” and I think that’s an apt description! I always enjoy reading Jane Austen retellings, and this one was enjoyable. I wasn’t in love with it, but the story was incredibly sweet and I really liked all the things that made this book stand alone from the original Pride and Prejudice story. This is a YA book so the characters are all a little younger, and our main character is transmasculine Oliver Bennet who develops a crush on (you guessed it) broody and aloof Darcy.
The ending was adorable and gave me all the warm fuzzies! I grinned like a fool at the interactions between Oliver and Darcy towards the end…they are both so lovable.
If you love Austen retellings, I recommend this one!
What I’m Watching:
I’ll keep it simple: Doctor Who, Big Bang Theory, and Percy Jackson.
What I’m Working On:
- Book coaching course–I’m going to start looking for practicum clients soon!
- Maasverse book club
- Blog post ideas
- My own writing! (Have I written anything lately? No. Have I been working through some scenes in my head? Yes.)
Okay, time for me to get ready for bed. One more sleep until HOFAS!!!
