HA how is it December? How was October five years long and November only lasted five minutes? How am I going to reach my reading goals by the end of the month?! I have been in a post-US election disassociation spiral and I really haven’t taken time to write much, or read much, or honestly, do much of anything…but I’m ready to force myself to get back in the swing of things and not let anger and frustration take over my life.

In silly news, I really want to complete Book of the Month’s reading challenge this year and earn the “Reading is Sexy” hat prize. Only 6 books to go!
What I’m Reading:
Strange Beasts by Susan J. Morris
Dracula and Sherlock Holmes lore weave together in this fantastical mystery featuring main character Sam who is the daughter of Mina and Jonathan Harker (from Dracula fame) and her new investigative partner Helena…who happens to be the daughter of Professor Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes’s brilliant nemesis.
This book is so engaging so far! I’m loving the magic elements, and the way Morris weaves folklore and classic novel lore.
Masters of Death by Olivie Blake
I’m doing a dual audiobook/Kindle read of this one because I feel like I’m going to end up loving it…but I’m struggling to get through it. I’m about 33% through and things are picking up, so stay tuned! Also, I went into this shipping Fox and Vi and now I’m not so sure. No spoilers though, I promise!
What I’m Watching:
- The Big Bang Theory: This is my comfort show and I’ve rewatched it so many times. If it ever leaves streaming (it’s currently on Max), then I will absolutely purchase the entire series.
- The screen of my Switch since with the release of the 1.6 update, I cannot stop playing Stardew Valley. Seriously. It’s becoming a problem. If you were wondering though, Stardew pairs wonderfully with audiobooks.
What I’m Listening To:
I just finished reading Done and Dusted, the first in Lyla Sage’s Blue Rebel Ranch series, and I did not know until now that I needed some cowboy romance in my life. As usual, when I’m putting off more practical tasks, I started a playlist inspired by the series. I will keep adding songs as I continue to read through the series!
What I’m Working On:
- I need to create a website for my book coaching business. I also need to figure out details for said business. It’s slow going because teaching drains most of my energy, but I can’t wait to launch someday!
- WRITING MORE. That’s it.
